01 Overview

Willow ("we," "us," "our") makes the Willow mobile app — a space for daily affirmations, guided rituals, journaling, and manifestation. This policy explains what information Willow collects, how it's used, who it's shared with, and the choices you have. It applies to the Willow app on iOS and Android and to this website.

02 Information We Collect

Willow lets you start using the app without creating an account (an anonymous session). If you later create an account with email/password or Google Sign-In, we associate the following with it:

  • Account information: name, email address, and profile photo (if you sign in with Google).
  • Content you create: journal entries, manifestations and their action items, gentle rhythm rituals, saved affirmations, and your onboarding answers (e.g. your focus areas and intentions).
  • Usage and preferences: streaks, alignment/progress metrics computed from your activity, notification settings (including quiet hours), and your device's timezone offset.
  • Subscription status: whether your free trial or a paid Willow Basic/Pro subscription is active, managed through RevenueCat (see Section 4).

We do not ask for or store payment card details — those are handled entirely by Apple or Google when you subscribe (see Section 6).

03 How We Use Your Information

  • To provide and personalize the app — e.g. generating affirmations grounded in your own goals, and syncing your journal and manifestations across your devices when you're signed in.
  • To send affirmation and check-in notifications, if you've enabled them, respecting the quiet hours you set.
  • To determine your free-trial and subscription status so the right features are unlocked.
  • To maintain and improve the app's reliability and features.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your journal, manifestation, or chat content to train third-party AI models beyond the single request needed to generate a response for you.

04 Third-Party Services

Willow is built on a small number of specialized services, each of which processes only what's needed to do its job:

  • Firebase (Google): authentication, database storage (Cloud Firestore), push notifications, and the backend functions that power notifications and your free trial.
  • Google Sign-In: optional sign-in method, if you choose it.
  • OpenRouter: processes text for the AI affirmation coach, journal reflections, daily affirmation generation, and Future Self conversations. Messages sent for these features are transmitted to OpenRouter for processing.
  • Cartesia: converts affirmation text to spoken audio for the "Listen" narration feature.
  • Pexels: supplies background photography for affirmation and manifestation cards, based on generic search terms — no personal data is sent.
  • RevenueCat, Apple App Store, and Google Play: process Willow Basic/Pro subscription purchases, renewals, and restores. Willow receives your subscription status from RevenueCat, never your payment details.

Each of these providers has its own privacy policy governing how it handles data on our behalf.

05 Data Storage & Security

Your content is stored in Cloud Firestore, protected by security rules that restrict access to your own account only — no other Willow user can read or write your data. Your free-trial status is stored separately in a server-controlled record that not even your own signed-in app can modify directly, which is what keeps the free trial fair and one-time per account.

06 Subscriptions & the Free Trial

Every new Willow account automatically receives 3 days of Willow Basic, free — no payment information is requested or required to start it. After the free period, continuing requires a paid Willow Basic or Willow Pro subscription, purchased and billed through the Apple App Store or Google Play and managed via RevenueCat. Willow never sees or stores your card number; refunds, cancellations, and billing disputes are handled by Apple or Google directly.

07 Data Retention

We keep your account and content for as long as your account exists. If your subscription lapses, we don't delete your journal, manifestations, rituals, or progress — you simply regain full access to them if you subscribe again.

08 Your Choices & Rights

You can manage notification preferences (including turning them off entirely) from within the app's Settings at any time. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights over your personal information, such as the right to access, correct, or export it — contact us using the details below to make a request.

09 Deleting Your Data

The current version of the app doesn't yet include an in-app "delete my account" option. To request full deletion of your account and associated data, email us at becomingwithwillow@gmail.com from the address associated with your account (or with enough detail for us to locate it), and we'll process the request.

10 Children's Privacy

Willow is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we'll remove it.

11 Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use Willow after a change means you accept the updated policy.
